OBJECTIVES

M Create a museological hub to educate the greater public, both in Portugal and abroad, on the evolution of 20th century design to the present day.

M Be a dynamic, open and innovative museum project with spaces for exhibition, promotion, research, creation and conservation.

M Develop a programme which includes different design perspectives, insights and styles, linking them with other areas of contemporary design.

M Promote detailed study of the collection, while also ensuring the best conditions for its conservation, research, presentation, dissemination and internationalisation.

M Prioritise Portuguese design in terms of research, presentation, incorporation and conservation.

M Develop an incorporation policy.

M Promote awareness of social responsibility in design and the importance of a project culture in contemporary society through diversified spaces and times for discussion, research, education and experimentation.

M Involve the community of designers, artists, architects and curators in developing projects and discussing work strategies.

M Establish permanent ties, agreements and partnerships with the industrial/business community and academic institutions, creating a platform to present new projects and products.

M Promote Lisbon as a major cultural capital for its sustainable development and to revitalize its historic centre.

M Focus on a solid, dynamic, diversified, open and global communication strategy incorporating editorial policy and marketing/merchandising strategy.
